???: Dragons are undeniably one of the strongest and most awesome of monsters.

???: They’re so badass, there’s been a ton of mythology and legends surrounding them!

???: But these two raging reptiles are certainly monstrous, and are about to do battle!

???: Tigrex, the Roaring Wyvern from the Monster Hunter series!

???: Hannibal, the Dragon Aragami from God Eater Burst!

???: And we’re your Hosts!

Eden: Hi, I’m Eden!

Apex: And the cool guy is I, Apex!

Eden: And it’s our job to analyze their fangs, scales and claws to find out who would win…

TIGREX

Length: 1388.2 cm (Smallest known) to 2603.1 (Largest known)

Species: Flying Wyvern

FEATS

- Can live in many different environments

- Very hard to hunt for beginners

- Its roars can actually damage foes

- Easily capable of hunting other monsters, especially Popos

THEME:

Eden: In the vast world of Monster Hunter, monsters and humans thrived.

Apex: In a world full of dangerous wildlife, you’d think that just living there would be hell. NOPE. These people hunt monsters like it was just another job!

Eden: There are a lot of monsters in the Monster Hunter universe, but we’ll be focusing on one monster. And that is the Tigrex.

Apex: Ah yes, the Tigrex. Do you know what happens when you mix a tiger, a T.rex and a dragon? You get this badass lizard!

Eden: Despite being classified as a “Flying Wyvern”, a Tigrex doesn’t actually fly. Well, at least not in a traditional sense. They “glide” from place to place.

Apex: Pfft, Flying Wyvern my ass. More like “Badass Wyvern”!

Eden: But… That’s what they’re really called.

Apex: Yeah, yeah. Whatever. You’re the nerd here.

Eden: Good. Now- Hey, what the heck did you just call me!?



PHYSICALITY

- Strength

-- Can destroy large rock structure by tackling them

-- Can send hunters flying with their strikes

-- Forelegs are especially powerful

- Durability

-- Can take attacks from various weapons, like a sharp sword or even a massive hammer

-- Can tackle large rock structures without injuring themselves

-- Can run at high speeds due to powerful forelegs

Apex: These babies are large quadrupedal wyvern characterized by their totally massive head and jaws, strong limbs and a totally sick striking yellow/blue striped colouration. They even got small horns and a badass spike on the end their tail!

Eden: As a pseudowyvern, a Tigrex’s wings have evolved into forelegs, which allow them run at high speeds. This allows them to hunt other monsters, such as the Popo.

Apex: To further showoff its badassery over other monsters, it can roar VERY loudly! Like, loud-enough-to-hurt-you loud. Heck, it takes Super HG Earplugs just to block its roar!

Eden: Do you know else needs a Super HG Earplugs? A roar from a Laviente.

Apex: And those monstrosities are the size of islands! Imagine the size its lungs and the power one roar can produce! You’d be deaf without those earplugs.

Eden: They’re also pretty durable, capable of taking multiple hits from swords, hammers, spears, you name it!

Apex: It’s fun to cut off their tails too. Muahahaha!



ATTACKS

Roar

- Most of time, signifies the start of Rage Mode

- If standing close to the Tigrex while it roars, it can send hunters flying. If you are sort of close, it will stun instead

- If one if far enough, the roar will not affect you

Charge

- Tackles the enemy

- Is very fast

Bite

- Has two variations; One is a long bite and the other is shorter

Jump Attack

- Leaps through the air towards the enemy, tackling them

- Leaps twice when in Rage Mode

Spin Attack

- When an enemy is close enough, the Tigrex spins, knocking enemies off their feet

Push Attack

- The Tigrex pushes a bunches of rocks at the foe

- One of its stronger moves

Eden: Because of the powerful body structure of the Tigrex, it uses mainly its forearms and body. With its strong limbs, the Tigrex can dish out a lot of damage.

Apex: Its bite hurts a lot too! As you see from the name, the “rex” in Tigrex is obviously from “T.rex”. And T.rexes are known for their strong jaws! Tigrex is no exception; Just look at those jaws!

Eden: It even has a ranged attack in a form of pushing rocks and boulders. Its tail is quite useful too, especially when performing a spin attack.

Apex: This lovely dragon monster just keeps on getting better. And guess what? It has a super mode! Well, sort of.

Rage Mode

- Red veins stand out in its forearms

- Becomes stronger, faster and more vicious

- Some attacks are used twice in a row

Eden: Yikes! It looks pissed!

Apex: Hell yeah it is! Once the Tigrex activates its Rage Mode, you can only do one thing: Run! No seriously, that’s how some strategy guide say about its Rage Mode.

Eden: In layman’s terms, Rage Mode makes the Tigrex stronger and faster. It also attacks more rapidly, and some attacks are used twice in a row, making it more dangerous to it foes.

Apex: It’s so badass! I doubt this thing has any weaknesses!

Eden: Actually, it has a couple of weaknesses.

Apex: What!? Bummer…

WEAKNESSES

- No ranged moves aside from the boulder push

- Doesn’t wield an element

- Weak to electricity and dragon elements

- Rage Mode causes the Tigrex to lose 45% of its defense

Eden: While a hard opponent to beat, it isn’t actually that much of a tough fight when compared to other monsters, like the Fatalis for example.

Apex: Yeah… Also, it doesn’t really have long range moves, aside from the boulder push thing. Doesn’t even have an element either! And it’s weak to electricity and dragon elements.

Eden: And most importantly, its defense lowers to 45% when in Rage Mode. That means it loses almost half of its original defense.

Apex: But give it credit! It still manages to take experienced hunters by surprise. It’s also strong, fast and durable!

Eden: It truly is one beastly wyvern.

HANNIBAL

Length: Unknown

Species: Aragami

FEATS

- Was able to surprise the Protagonist’s team after they supposedly killed it

- Strong enough to kill a Prithvi Mata (Though this one was from a sub-species, it still counts)

- Is the first Aragami to not die after having its core extracted

Eden: In the God Eater universe, Humanity has already been reduced to less than half of the entire population.

Apex: And it doesn’t really help when there’s GIANT FREAKIN’ MONSTERS OUT TO KILL YOU EVERYWHERE! If monster hunting in Monster Hunter is considered a job, then monster hunting in God Eater is considered suicide!

Eden: Due to an accident with Oracle Cells, monsters known as Aragami were unleashed upon the land, causing global destruction.

Apex: Nothing seemed to be able to put them down, be it tanks or gatling guns. The military were useless!

Eden: In order to combat these powerful enemies, God Arcs and the God Eaters were born. But among all those Aragami, there was one that was almost unstoppable…

Apex: The Hannibal. I have three words for it. Flaming Kung-Fu Dragon!

Eden: The Hannibal’s origins are unknown, but are implied to be an offshoot result of Lindow Amamiya’s transformation. Their name comes from Hannibal Barca, one of the greatest military strategists in human history.

Apex: If I was named after a military general, I’d start up a campaign against things I disagreed with. Fear me!

Eden: Things you disagreed with? That would be an awfully long list.



PHYSICALITY

- Strength

-- Capable of easily swatting aside God Eaters, superhuman soldier trained to fight against Aragami

-- Can easily tear apart weaker Aragami, which even the smaller Aragami are immune to conventional weaponry

- Durability

-- Can withstand attacks from God Arcs, enormously huge weapons designed to kill Aragami

-- All Aragami are immune to conventional weaponry

-- Has a shield on its left arm

--- Can be unbound with crushing attacks

- Speed

-- Can easily match and surpass the speeds of God Eaters

--- Most, if not all, God Eaters have superhuman speeds and at least faster than the eye can see to supersonic reactions

-- Easily one of the fastest Aragami on foot

-- When the scale on its back is unbound, can float

Apex: You know, the Hannibal doesn’t look like your traditional dragon. Most dragons have six limbs; this guy only has four.

Eden: That’s true. It resembles a drake more than an actual dragon.

Apex: Technically it has wings made out of fire, but I don’t think they can be considered limbs.

Eden: It is also worth noting that the Hannibal isn’t a big bodied as, say, the Ouroboros. It has a lean, but muscular stature. I wouldn’t underestimate its strength though.

Apex: Yeah, you’re right! It’s capable of matching God Eaters! God Eaters are basically superhumans who can easily lift ginormous weapons despite not being ripped. I mean, Alisa looks hot but she doesn’t look like the kind of person capable of lifting giant chainsaws in one hand. Hell, in the anime, Alisa blitzed multiple Aragami, all while wielding the damn thing with zero effort! If her body was more like Sakura Ogami, then I could believe it!

Eden: Well that’s because the God Arcs have Oracle Cells, which then go into the people wielding the God Arcs. So it’s like they injected some Oracle Cells into their bodies.

Apex: Pfft, whatever. Japan just likes pretty girls with big weapons. But Alisa doesn’t need to compensate for anything! So why the big weapon?

Eden: Alisa isn’t a guy.

Apex: Never mind. Let’s move on!

ATTACKS

Dragon Thrash

- Hannibal thrashes forwards with his arms.

Dragon Pounce

- Hannibal pounces onto his enemies.

Kalpa Fire

- Hannibal puts both his arms on the ground then unleases a large blazing orb that homes on his enemies.

Clawing Rush

- Hannibal rushes forward with his claws, damaging and knocking away his enemies.

Blade Thrust

- Hannibal summons a fire blade in his left arm, then pounce on an enemy then thrust then down, creating a spiralling fire pillar. He then jumps away after his blade disappears.

Blazing Pillar

- Hannibal thrusts his left arm into the ground, and then summons a fire pillar just directly on the ground his target is.

Flame Breath

- Hannibal inhales, and then releases a bursting flame from his mouth to the ground in front of him twice. First, he breathes it from the right to left; the second time will be from the left to right. The attack's range is very short.

Tail Whip

- Hannibal curls up his long tail, then sweep the ground.

Raging Thrash

- Hannibal's body starts to rise, then he summons two fire blades in both hands. He thrashes about five times in a circle over a wide area.

- Can only use when the scale is unbound

- One of its stronger attacks, also covers a wide range

Firestorm

- Hannibal starts to releases sparks of flames from his unbound scale. He then levitates off the ground then releases four waves of raging storm of fire pillars in a cross-like fashion.

Apex: The Hannibal is one hell of an Aragami. It’s fast, strong, tough and can manipulate fire! In conjunction with its martial arts skills, it can use a lot of attacks, including epic fire swords! I NEED one of those!

Eden: It also has a bracer on its left arm that can be used to block attacks. However, it’s weak to crush attacks.

Apex: The Hannibal fights with its long and powerful arms, its hot flames and its body too! Hannibal isn’t that big bodied, but they’re tackles produce a lot of force due to their top-notch speed.

Eden: Unlike most monsters, it fights like a human, using its skills to devastate opponents. But true to its appearance, it can also fight like a savage monster, sometimes thrashing about to attack its enemies.

Apex: I still want those flames swords!

Eden: … Just find them online. And make sure you order them with your own money!

Enraged State

- Increases strength, speed and aggressiveness

- Indicated when flame is mixed with its breathing

Eden: Just like his opponent, the Hannibal has something similar to Rage Mode. And that is the “Enraged State”. To get to this state, Hannibal has to continually be damaged, or when one or more of its parts are unbound.

Apex: The Enraged State makes the Hannibal stronger, faster and angrier. And holy hell do I mean faster. The Hannibal’s already fast attacks are now faster and stronger. You’d best be careful near an enraged Hannibal, or else!

Eden: But not everything is so hot for the Hannibal.

WEAKNESSES

- Weak to Freeze and Spark attacks

- Not very big when compared to opponent

- Has to be damaged in order for it to use its strongest moves, Raging Thrash and Firestorm

Apex: The Hannibal doesn’t like electricity or ice attacks, which can cripple the Flaming Kung-Fu Dragon. And it’s smaller than the Tigrex!

Eden: It is also worth mentioning that while it has very powerful attacks, the most powerful ones are only accessible when he is damaged.

Apex: Well who cares!? High risk, high reward. Besides, if I was a dragon that can control fire and use martial arts, I would definitely let myself get hurt just to use my super moves!

Eden: Well that’s your opinion. But despite its weaknesses, the Hannibal is a powerful monster. As a matter of fact, the Hannibal is one of the most dangerous of all Aragami in existence!

Apex: It would serve you well not to underestimate this dragon!
